Exciting news! The Farm Konek team, led by CEO John Vincent Gastanes, CTO Fheter John Calanday, CFO Stephen Costiniano, and CSO Shellemai Roa, recently traveled to Brunei as part of the multi-country grant awarded by the South Korean Government. This is part of looking for initiatives aimed at finding sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by small-scale farmers.
In collaboration with the Puerto Princesa City Agriculture Office and the Department of Agriculture, the team established a partnership that connects smallholder farmers to various Agritech supply chain systems and platforms in their respective countries through Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines - East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
This project is a huge milestone for Farm Konek, and it's slated to run until 2025 with a strong focus on maximizing value for all stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
We're excited to be a part of this initiative and can't wait to see the positive impact it will have on small-scale farmers in the region.
We are thrilled to share with you the news that Farm Konek has been recognized as one of the priority projects for food security collaboration and business within the Agribusiness Cluster's Agro Supply Chain Management (ASCM) in BIMP-EAGA for the years 2023-2025. The recently concluded BIMP-EAGA Strategic Planning Meeting 2023 held in Brunei on February 6-8 has marked a significant milestone in our contribution to the subregion. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to promoting sustainable and resilient agriculture ecosystems in the Philippines and the BIMP-EAGA region.
As we move forward, we will be collaborating with different clusters of BIMP-EAGA, including but not limited to Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT), Trade Facilitation, Trade Investment & Promotion, and Human Resource Development (HRD). Our ICT convergence will focus on providing connectivity and innovation support through infrastructure to support the development of the agricultural supply chain. The Trade Facilitation cluster will concentrate on Customs, Immigration, Quarantine, and Security (CIQS) alignment integration to ensure smooth trade flows and minimize transaction costs. Trade Investment & Promotion aims to connect the system to industrial partners, while HRD will offer technical support for capacity building and the creation of a pool of talent from universities or technical vocational courses related to agriculture.
At Farm Konek, we are committed to driving innovation and collaboration to transform the agricultural sector in the BIMP-EAGA region. We believe that through collective efforts and a shared vision for a sustainable and resilient agriculture ecosystem, we can make a real difference in the lives of the people and communities we serve. We are grateful for this recognition and look forward to working together with our partners and stakeholders to bring about positive change and progress for the agricultural sector in the years to come.
